Chapter Two
That Weird MPD Kid
Lacy woke up on a ratty couch, trying to remember what had happened the night before. When she looked around, she noticed a zombie-like person in the corner of the room, playing the violin. Oh, now I remember. That's Grubber... I didn't know he could play the violin... Huh... It took her a few seconds to realize there was a lot of shouting going on... between Ace and three unrecognizable yet very annoying voices. Lacy rolled off the couch and groggily stood up.
"Morning Lacccy," Snake's lisp came from behind her and she whipped around, startling them both. "Uhm, Accce sayssss you should ssstay inside..."
"Why is that?" Lacy asked, looking towards the door.
"Eh..." He scratched the back of his head and lead her to the only window, which was ratty and somewhat boarded up. She peeked through one of the slight openings in it and saw Ace with the Powerpuff Girls.
"Who are they?"
"The Powerpuff Girlsss. They go around 'sssaving the day' whenever there'sss trouble." Snake shrugged his shoulders. "They're pain in the buttsss but sometimesss are pretty niccce to me. Accce just doesn't know that..."
"I'm guessing if he did he'd beat the living hell out of you if he knew or found out." Lacy said, glaring on the inside at Ace. What a shit.
"I'm telling you brats the she ain't here!" Ace snapped at the three tiny superheroes. "I ain't hiding no albino girl!"
"We know she's in there, Ace!" Blossom snapped. "I was doing a last minute patrol last night - unlike some people -" she paused to glare at Buttercup and Bubbles "- and I saw her! She was walking back to your place with you and your gang! You should know that she's not supposed to be here in Townsville!"
"I don't know what you's is talkin' about, Blossom! We ain't seen no albino girl, so we obviously ain't hidin' her here!"
"Oh, so you wouldn't mind if we looked inside?" Bubbles asked sweetly.
Lacy spun around and hid behind Snake. "Hide me!"
His first reaction was panic, but he knew that would only lead to more shouting and then chaos. So, he yanked her over to a corner in the Gang's run-down home, and ran a hand along the wall. "We can sssneak out thisss way until it'sss okay to come back..." Once he found what he was looking for, he pulled open a hidden door and pushed Lacy out, following behind and closing the door. "Just ssstay back here and don't sssay anything..." Lacy nodded reluctantly nodded and Snake went back inside. Once he was inside, there was more shouting, which led to a lot of chyuu sounds, and then... apologies? It was hard to tell because it was so quiet. After a few seconds, the chyuu sound came again, and Snake came out. "It'sss all clear."
Lacy was just about to come in when Ace pulled Snake back and yanked Lacy in by the wrist. "What do those girls have against ya, Lace?" He demanded.
"You think I know?" she snapped. "I've never seen them before in my entire life!"
"Well they know you's here and want you out." After noticing Lacy was glaring bloody daggers at him, he sighed and swung an arm around her shoulders. "Listen, Lace, I ain't gonna kick you out. Maybe it's just those Powerpuff Gals; they is always pickin' on us."
"You're touching me."
"Accce, maybe she should asssk them wha-" Snake was interrupted by a punch and he immediately stopped.
"Shut it, Ingleberry!" Ace snapped, having also ignored Lacy's comment.
"Get your arm off of my shoulders or I'll tear it off." She growled.
Ace rolled his eyes and reluctantly did as she told him to. "All right, all right, chill." He went over to a mini fridge on the opposite side of the room. "Wanna drink?"
"I don't drink," Lacy said, brushing the Ace cooties off her shoulders.
"How about you, boys?" Ace asked, addressing the rest of the Gang, who had been sleeping until the Puffs raided their home.
"I'll take my margarita," Li'l Arturo grinned. Grubber blew a raspberry and Big Billy shook his head.
"You want somethin', Snake?"
Snake glared at him. "You know I don't drink, Accce."
Ace then looked towards Lacy after tossing Arturo a bottle of margarita and Grubber a can of Budweiser. "You sure you don't want anything, Lace?"
"I'm sure," she growled, venom dripping from her tone.
"How about a smoke?" He pulled out a cigar from his back pocket.
"No, thanks." Lacy took a step back.
Ace smirked and took a step towards her. "Come on, it won't bite."
"She sssaid no, Accce." Snake stepped in front of her, and Ace punched him again, hard enough that he was lying on the floor after the hit.
Lacy swung up her foot and kicked Ace right in the soprano switch. "DON'T EVER PUNCH SNAKE AGAIN! WHAT DID HE EVER DO TO YOU!" She shouted and helped Snake stand up. As soon as he was standing, the pain in Ace's groin subsided long enough for him to tackle Lacy to the ground. She aimed to deliver a hard kick to one of his shins, but he managed to position his legs around hers, hindering them. He had her pinned down by her wrists and neared her face.
"You're lucky I said you got guts," he snarled before Snake tackled him from the side. The two rolled around on the floor for awhile, punching and kicking and everything else they could manage to do in order to physically harm the other. Li'l Arturo downed what was left of his margarita and looked ready to swing it on the backside of Snake's head. Lacy quickly snatched the small glass bottle from him and, once Ace was on top, smashed it against his head as hard as possible. Ace was stunned for a moment before falling off to the side, unconscious. Lacy was breathing heavily, surprised at what she had done. Snake stood up and panted, while the rest of the Gang was either staring at Lacy or at Ace.
Lacy sighed and started picking up the glass pieces, making sure that none had been lodged into the back of Ace's head. "You guys have a First Aid kit around here?" she asked, looking up. They all shook their heads and she sighed again. "Old shirts?" The response was the same, except with Grubber, who actually nodded and went outside, coming back a few minutes later with a large, dirty, torn-up, and smelly white t-shirt. "Anything we can wash it off with?" Grubber nodded again and led Lacy outside and deep into the Townsville Dump until the two eventually came up to an old-fashioned wishing well. Lacy peered down inside before cranking the bucket down into the well and then cranking it back up. She then untied the now water-filled bucket from the rope and followed Grubber back to the cruddy shack the Gang lived in. She tore up the shirt until it was just wide strips of fabric, and dunked them in the bucket, washing off all the disgusting bits of other garbage. "Snake, come here." Snake did as he was told and Lacy gently took hold of his arm, carefully examining the deep, bloody bite marks Ace had made. She dabbed at the wound with one of the soaking wet fabric strips, trying to ignore Snake's flinch, before wrapping and tying it off over the wound. "Any other bad injuries?"
Snake nodded. "I dink he broke by dose..." Lacy tapped it very gently, and he flinched.
She covered his relatively large nose with her hand lightly. "This is gonna hurt for a second," she said just before snapping his nose back into place. She then tore off a small piece from one of the fabrics and handed it to him. "Your right nostril is bleeding, so you might wanna put that in there for a while."
He nodded and did as Lacy instructed before she turned to Ace. "Billy, can you get him on the couch?"
"Uh huh, I can do dat," Billy nodded and picked up Ace, laying him down on the ratty couch that Lacy woke up on just that morning. She looked around for any wounds on Ace and found a bad scratch on one shoulder. She did the same thing that she did with Snake, but when she put the wet cloth against Ace's wound, he squirmed and tilted his head. "...Lace?" She didn't say anything and finished wrapping up his scratch. He sat up when she was done. "What the hell...?"
"You're lucky I wasn't expecting a thank you."
Just as Ace was about to make a snide remark, there was a soft knock at the door.
No one ever came to see the Gangreen Gang.
Not since the incident with Buttercup.
Ace got up and opened the door to see a boy about his height, with long rusty-colored hair tied into a ponytail behind his head. He had bright yellow-gold eyes and a somewhat concerned look on his face. "Hi, I'm Sionnach. I heard a lot of shouting and I was around, and I wanted to know if everyone was okay..."
Ace raised an eyebrow and stared. "Oh... you're that weird MPD kid..."
